The History of Goldwork Embroidery, with THL Amalie von Hohensee This class will take an in-depth look at the historical development of goldwork embroidery, from some of the earliest extant finds through the Tudor era. We will take a look at how threads were manufactured in period, and how changes in this technology affected the types of embroidery produced. We will then compare modern threads to their historical counterparts, and discuss strategies for recreating historical goldwork embroideries with modern materials.
